Real Estate Inspector Jobs in California
A Real Estate Inspector plays a crucial role in the real estate industry by performing detailed inspections of properties to ensure compliance with local building codes, zoning regulations, and safety standards. Their responsibilities include examining the physical condition of a property, such as the structures, systems, and components (i.e. roof, HVAC, plumbing, electrical, etc.), then providing a comprehensive report outlining their findings, including potential defects or areas of concern that could affect the transaction value or safety of the inhabitants.
Important skills for a Real Estate Inspector include strong attention to detail, comprehensive knowledge of local building codes and regulations, excellent written and verbal communication skills, and a high degree of integrity. They should have relevant certifications such as a Certified Master Inspector (CMI), Certified Property Inspector (CPI), or certification from the American Society of Home Inspectors (ASHI). Prior to becoming a Real Estate Inspector, a person might have roles such as a Construction Worker, Building Code Inspector, or Property Surveyor. These roles provide valuable experience in understanding building structures, systems, and local regulations.
