Resident Manager - Multiple properties

Position Summary
We are seeking a dedicated, service-oriented Resident Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations of a multifamily residential property in San Francisco. The Resident Manager serves as the primary on-site representative of ownership and management, helping to ensure the property remains safe, clean, well-maintained, and welcoming for residents and guests.
This role combines resident relations, building oversight, light maintenance coordination, emergency response, and property inspections. The ideal candidate is proactive, organized, responsive, and takes pride in maintaining a high-quality living environment while delivering exceptional customer service.
Key Responsibilities
Resident Relations & Customer Service
Serve as the first point of contact for residents regarding non-emergency concerns, maintenance requests, building issues, and general inquiries.
Foster positive resident relationships through professional, courteous, and timely communication.
Support resident move-ins and move-outs, including orientations and coordination of building access.
Educate residents on property policies, procedures, and appropriate channels for communication.
Address resident concerns and escalate matters to Property Management when necessary.
Property Oversight & Inspections
Conduct daily property walkthroughs to ensure the building, common areas, and grounds meet company standards for cleanliness, safety, and appearance.
Monitor the performance of maintenance, janitorial, and vendor services and report deficiencies to management.
Perform regular inspections of vacant units to ensure apartments are show-ready and move-in ready.
Complete monthly property inspections and reporting, including curb-to-roof assessments.
Conduct periodic key audits to verify proper access to apartments, storage rooms, mechanical spaces, and common areas.
Building Cleanliness & Appearance
Maintain the overall appearance of common areas, including hallways, laundry facilities, elevators, mail areas, and other shared spaces.
Perform light cleaning and housekeeping duties as needed.
Monitor trash and recycling areas to ensure they remain organized, sanitary, and free of overflow.
Break down recyclable materials, rotate bins as needed, and report waste management concerns.
Identify and request replacement supplies necessary for building operations and appearance.
Building Operations & Safety
Help ensure the security of the property by monitoring building access and enforcing community rules and policies.
Respond to resident lockouts and building access issues.
Coordinate building access for vendors, contractors, inspectors, and service providers.
Maintain awareness of building systems and promptly report operational concerns.
Assist with maintaining accurate records related to maintenance issues, resident concerns, and building needs.
Emergency Response
Respond to after-hours emergencies including floods, plumbing backups, fire alarms, building system failures, and other urgent situations.
Take appropriate immediate action to protect residents and property.
Contact emergency services when necessary and coordinate with Property Management regarding incident response.
Complete and submit incident reports and supporting documentation within required timelines.
Administrative Responsibilities
Maintain accurate records of hours worked, completed tasks, inspections, and resident interactions.
Utilize company software platforms for reporting, inspections, work order tracking, and communication.
Submit reports and documentation accurately and on time.
Support compliance with company policies, procedures, and applicable regulations.
Additional Responsibilities
Assist with work orders and property support activities across the portfolio when requested.
Provide coverage for other Resident Managers during scheduled absences or vacations.
Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned to support the overall success of the property.
Qualifications
Required
Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities.
Ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment.
Basic knowledge of building maintenance, property operations, and residential housing practices.
Ability to respond to emergencies outside of normal business hours.
Proficiency with smartphones, tablets, and property management software systems.
Ability to lift, carry, and move supplies and perform light physical tasks associated with property operations.
Preferred
Previous experience as a Resident Manager, Property Assistant, Maintenance Technician, Concierge, or in multifamily housing operations.
Experience working in occupied residential communities.
Familiarity with property management platforms and inspection software.
Bilingual abilities are a plus.
