Job Profile Summary
Under general direction, this position provides leadership and oversight in managing the facilities planning activities. Responsible for the collection, analysis of facility data, establishing and evaluating space standards and policies, space assessment and allocation, and project planning and management in support of the short and long term needs of the Facilities Division. This position oversees the Capital Improvement Plan process, Educational Plant Survey and is the Facilities database owner and responsible for the verification of State reports submitted to the Department of Education. Participates actively in the reporting of projections of Capital Outlay FTE and provides guidance and expertise to the College's administration on future facilities needs in accordance with State guidelines and the College's master plan.
Minimum Education:
- Bachelor's degree in architecture, interior design, construction management or related field.
Minimum Experience/Training:
- Ten years in facilities planning or function field, including five years in management.
Minimum Certification/Licenses:
- Knowledge of Florida's Building Code.
- SREF State Requirement for Educational Facilities application and experience required.
Essential Functions:
- Daily - 25%: Provides leadership and oversight in managing the facilities planning activities. Manages and directs facilities space planning, evaluating new space for college use which includes acquisition, new construction, renovation or remodeling, proposing designs, provide layouts and alternatives based on program needs and compliance with SREF / building code.
- Daily - 10%: Oversees Planning projects, FF&E acquisition and installation, furniture layouts, furniture purchases and/or resolves furniture issues. Mediates and trouble-shoot with construction / facilities project managers, campus user group and vendors for any problems associated with the delivery of furniture and equipment.
- Daily - 10%: Reviews, coordinates and directs interior design finishes for new construction and maintenance projects. Manages the interior design process for furniture and equipment for all construction projects; which includes design meetings with campus and vendor, selection process, furniture layouts, purchasing, delivery and installation, daily site visits and performs other duties as assigned.
- Other - 10%: Responsible for the preparation of Capital Improvement Program, State Inventory Reports (FITS), Plant Survey, Data Base submissions to DOE, maintaining space inventory in CID and Workplace, infrastructure, and facilities management software.
- Other - 5%: Participates in construction projects from conception to be in compliance with Plant Survey and Capital improvement programs.
- Other - 10%: Responsible for people management of the area, including recommendation of staffing, hiring, termination and discipline, setting performance standards and evaluating staff, and staff development.
- Daily - 5%: Manages all personnel moves with College users, Facilities Management, Physical plant, Telecommunications and outside vendors associated with the new construction / remodeling projects
- Weekly - 5%: Organizes the development and implementation of College wide Furniture Standards
- Daily - 5%: Reviews and approves college wide purchase requisitions entered for the procurement of furniture and minor equipment.
- Weekly - 10%: Reviews submitted design documents for compliance with SREF (State Requirements for Educational Facilities)
- Monthly - 1%: Participates in the Sustainability Committee to utilize information when purchasing eco-friendly products.
- Annually -2%: Prepares Presidential Transmittals or Board Transmittals for College wide furniture purchases
- Other - 2%: Performs other duties as assigned.
