Space Planner Jobs in Washington, DC

A Space Planner in the real estate industry is a professional who is responsible for optimizing the use and layout of a physical space. Their work includes creating detailed floor plans, determining furniture placement, maximizing usable space, and accommodating growth and changes within the company or property. They liaise with architects, designers, and executives to ensure that the spaces they design meet the needs of the occupiers and comply with health and safety regulations. They might also assist in the selection and procurement of furniture and equipment.

Essential skills for a Space Planner include strong proficiency in design software such as AutoCAD, excellent spatial awareness, and problem-solving skills. They should have a keen eye for detail, great organizational skills, and the ability to communicate effectively with various stakeholders. A degree in interior design, architecture, or a related field is often required, as well as several years of relevant experience. Certifications like the Facility Management Professional (FMP) or Certified Facility Manager (CFM) can be beneficial. Before becoming a Space Planner, a person might work as an interior designer, architect, or facility manager.
