As a Senior Project Designer at Client, you will join a talented team that works to create thoughtful and meaningful experiences for our clients that allow them to thrive and grow as a business. You must have experience in leading all aspects of the design and furniture process to advise our clients and ensure success in every aspect of their project, including but not limited to programming, space planning, material selection, construction documents, furniture selection and specification, and construction administration. You will be expected to lead collaborative project teams to design spaces that augment organizational goals and create meaningful experiences for the people that work there. You will also work with other designers at Client on continued design innovation and excellence within PDRs own culture of design and design standards.
Essential Responsibilities
Design Concept
Lead the project team in the creation of a design concept and corresponding material palettes that embody the business goals and overall story of the client.
Engage the client in programming and workplace design analysis to identify the project's key issues and business objectives.
Coordinate with the Partner, Project Manager, and/or Project Architect to identify the design scope, budget, and schedule.
Design Deliverables
Guide the schematic design and design development phases of the project. Coordinate with the Project Architect during the design development and engineering handoff phases. Actively participate in the construction document process.
Creates, schedules, and organizes tasks for the team in order to meet design deliverables.
Culture and Career Development
Establish the content for all Design presentations. Confirm that the design solutions being presented are appropriate with the project budget and schedule. Engage the client in the Design process and be responsible for the resolution of all design elements.
Mentor the project team and designers in developing the complete project design solution and maintaining a primary design concept through construction documents.
Be actively involved in industry events, vendor events, learnings and presentations.
QualificationsQualifications
Bachelor's degree or Master's degree in Interior Design or Architecture from a CIDA or NCARB accredited school
10+ years of post-graduate experience with a minimum of 5 years in workplace interiors.
Ability to effectively convey a design concept and strategy internally with a team and externally with clients
Excellent color sense and great passion for design
Must be able to specify and prepare RFPs for contract furniture
Proficiency in simple and advanced 3D modeling, visualization and graphic software - Revit required
Additional skills could include Excel, Adobe Suite, Enscape, Lumion, Rhino and modeling software programs
Professional License required or within 18 months of hire
Commercial workplace interior design experience is a plus
Sustainable certification (ex. LEED, WELL, Fitwell, etc) is a plus
Must be a team player and have the ability to collaborate and work well with colleagues
Must be able to develop, delegate to, mentor and teach younger staff
Must be self-motivated, take ownership of tasks, and have strong organizational skills
Desire to be research driven and understand current market trends and what's next in design
Attend company happy hours and internal vendor presentations as possible
Must be active in industry events and networking events
