Supervises skilled-trades and contracted vendors in the operation, corrective maintenance, preventive maintenance, and modification of MSD wastewater treatment facilities. Provides leadership, training, and mentorship to staff. Plans, specifies, procures equipment, and determines installation methods to maintain the design capacities of MSD wastewater treatment facilities. Supports Engineering with design review, condition assessments, and construction and start-up of facilities and projects.Supervises corrective maintenance, preventive maintenance and facility modifications for all skilled-trades and contract vendors. Enforces rules of conduct, health and safety rules, and standard operating procedures for operations and maintenance functions. Plans and schedules all work related to control, instrumentation, electrical and mechanical maintenance. Develops, implements, and supervises on-going electrical and mechanical preventive and predictive maintenance programs. Coordinates work efforts to ensure that required tools, equipment, materials, and supplies are available as needed. Issues instructions and direction to staff. Oversees contract work being performed at MSD wastewater treatment plants and pump stations as needed. Plans and conducts special studies/analysis to evaluate instrumentation and control systems performance, as well as, updates all appropriate documentation. Reviews plans and specifications for new construction and aids MSD Engineering and MSD Consultants.Knowledge of advanced industrial mechanical equipment and control systems, application and theory; knowledge of best industry practices and standards; knowledge of electrical control systems; knowledge of related codes and regulations (OSHA, NEC, industrial building code, etc.); skill in blueprint reading; skill in operating a PC and associated Windows environment software (e.g. Microsoft Office Suite); skill in managing multiple priorities; ability to learn wastewater treatment principles, practices, laws and regulations; ability to supervise a diverse workforce; ability to resolve problems; ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing; ability to perform physically demanding tasks as outlined above; ability to work under adverse working conditions such as inclement weather; ability to work effectively under heavy, unpredictable surges in workload; ability to work outdoors; ability to work 24 hour emergency response, various shifts and weekends.Associate Degree in electrical or mechanical maintenance or a related field; five or more years of industrial maintenance experience or a related field; an equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted. Must possess a valid driver's license. Must have an acceptable and reliable means for being contacted during off-duty hours. Must have safe work and driving habits. Certified maintenance journeyman preferred.
